Products made from Bioplastics
IPOD AND IPAD COVERS
The world’s first and only iPhone,
iPod and iPad covers made of a unique blend of low carbon and environmentally friendly materials, derived entirely from plants and annually renewable natural resources. They research and develop innovative ways to manufacture and use bio-plastic products, and explore the cutting edge of biotechnology to create and release products that let consumers enjoy the fruits of science with a clean conscience.
CARGO COSMETICS BOTANICAL LIPSTICKS
A new line of botanical lipsticks from CARGO Cosmetics, promotes a passion for the environment, utilising a 100% biodegradable lipstick tube and a carton made from biodegradable paper infused with real flower seeds. CANON IMAGE RUNNER ADVANCE
Canon used Ingeo on the exterior part of their new colour multifunction office systems “imageRUNNER ADVANCE,” which launched in September of 2009. Ingeo, plant-based material, was introduced in its 3 series and 12 models. It achieved the highest level of world standard on flame resistance. Canon strives to provide responsible solutions to mitigate the environmental burden and impact of global warming.
FUJITSU LIFEBOOK PRODUCT BODY
Fujitsu used plant-based Ingeo plastic in large parts of the product body in their LIFEBOOK SH760/5B, SH560/3B, PH770/3B. It helps to cut down the burden on the environment with the reduced usage of fossil material and reduced carbon dioxide emission during production.
NEC, “NUCYCLE” FORMULATION
Developed by NEC,the “Nucycle” plant based formulation illustrates the NEC Group’s unique material development technology and capabilities. Nucycle significantly expands the application of Ingeo PLA bioplastics into products where performance features such as durability, safety, and high levels of flame retardancy are of paramount importance. Life cycle analysis (LCA) demonstrates that “Nucycle”, with high Ingeo bio content (75%~plant based) offers significant carbon footprint reduction, lowering CO2 emissions.
RPC SUPERFOS PAIL AND PAINT
A unique collaboration between three different companies has led to a groundbreaking result within paint and packaging. Both the pail and the paint under the brand GEODE are plant based. For a plant-based paint, they found it obvious to develop a container that also holds renewable resources. A specific grade plant-based plastic has been developed for the purpose. It derives from starch, a natural renewable polymer widely produced by plants by atmospheric CO2 capture. Their paint GEODE contains up to 97 percent natural ingredients.
CHRISTIEN MEINDERTSMA & JIN KURAMOTO CHAIR
Christien Meindertsma's chair has won two Dutch Design Awards for its innovative use of flax fibre combined with bioplastic. The furniture is made from biodegradable flax fibres combined with polylactic acid (PLA), a bioplastic made from sugar cane or corn starch. Kuramoto designed the Jin chair for Swedish furniture brand Offecct. They presented it at the Stockholm Furniture Fair as part of the city's annual design week, and it was named best product in show by a jury. Kuramoto devised a method that involves building and shaping thin flax fibre layers on top of each other to form both the seat and frame. A resin is then used to solidify the structure.
ELLI DESIGN SOHO TABLE
This table is composed of a central leg characterised by an organic and slender shape, built using a 3D process. The material used for this piece is glossy white PLA (polylactic acid), which is a bioplastic obtained from corn and wheat. The top that makes up the table, has a round shape and it’s available in two versions: ceramic or fenix. The production process used allows the manufacture of objects according to a zero-waste logic and in full compliance with the circular economy rules.
QTS (Quality, Technology
and Service) is the first dispenser producer in the world to launch dispensers made from Ingeo bio-plastic. The manufacture of Ingeo dispensers, which is made from an annually renewable resource, emits 43% less greenhouse gas emissions and 48% less non-renewable energy (NREU) compared to traditional polymers used to make dispensers.
PERFECT ECO TOOTHBRUSH
Eco toothbrush is mainly composed of pure natural environmental protection material, such as bamboo, PLA material, etc.. PERFECT focuses on product details and selects natural materials to ensure product quality from the source.
Eco-friendly PLA toothbrush: use of renewable biodegradable materials, environmental safety; Scrub brush handle, comfortable grip; Safe use for pregnant women and children. PLA toothbrushes.
HENKEL PRITT ECOMFORT CORRECTION ROLLER
It is part of Henkel’s commitment that all new products contribute to sustainable development in at least one of five focal areas: energy and climate, water and waste-
water, materials and waste, health and safety, and social progress. The latest innovation to its Correction Roller assortment is the high
performance Pritt ECOmfort Correction roller. The solvent-free correction roller is the first in the world with a shell made from 89 percent Ingeo, a plastic from plants, not oil.
STILOLINEA INGEO PEN
The Ingeo pen is part of a new range of pens from Stilolinea that sets new standards of design with performance and now responsibility because it is made using Ingeo biopolymer, an ingenious new material made from plants. Stilolinea is a leading maker of pens ‘made in Italy’ today, manufacturing innovations since the early 70s based on the principle of design acuity, combined with the latest technology and now with environmental attributes as well.
